Our eye into the coastal ecosystem

All four seasons are important for us

Spring/summer, late winter the kelp and algeas start growing again and slowly all the colors come back. And normally around beginning of may the colorfull wrasses comes back when the water temperature exceeds around 10degrees.

  • More colors
  • More diversity both in algeas, jellyfish and fishlife
  • Less amount of schools of fish and birdlife.
  • Seal is also very rare to see at this time of year

Autumn/winter, the evenings is gradually getting darker. And we can again use lights to attract plankton which is the main source for nearly all life under sea and also the reason why we can breathe. Plankton absorbs up to 40% of the worlds carbon.

  • Autmn is it quite common the see seal
  • Lumpfish is laying its eggs at this time of year, and can be visible at the same spot for months as the male guards the eggs until they are hatched.
  • Schools of pollock is common.

The visibilty can change within the same day all year, this is due to wind, rain(freshwater), currents and temperaturechanges. We will start an researchproject so we can know more of this shortly.
